Oh noes.
"Damn," Sarah said quietly as Mark walked away, "he's nosy." "Seriously. Tending bar is the perfect job for him," Sig said. "Maybe I'll be a bartender and find out everyone's drama when I'm done being a paramedic." "You would," she said. "Hey!" Sarah and Sig turned around to see Tom, dressed in street clothes. A few of the back half day guys were with him, most dressed in BDUs and navy blue shirts, as they had just gotten off work. "What's up, guys! Whatcha doin'?" ( Read more... ) | | 8:19 am |
A turning point?
While Dr. Sable made plans to go out with Naomi after work, she really wasn't sure she was going to go. She felt sick just thinking about it. She agreed to go, said she's talk to Naomi if anything came up (which she would assure it would), then headed straight to the chaplain's office. The door was open. "Hey, Snack!" "Dr. Sable!" he said. "You thinking of picking up another shift?" "No, I'm looking for an excuse to get out of going to the gay bar with Naomi Worn tonight." ( Read more... ) | | Sunday, July 24th, 2011 | | 7:25 pm |
"My life is already ruined. Let's fuckin' do this," Michele said.
"Are you doing okay?" Vince asked. "No," Michele said. "Well, yes. But no." She rested her head against his chest. "This is the first time I've cried about this...the first time I've given it much thought other than the logistics of getting here." "It's okay," Vince said. "You don't have to be strong all the time." ( Read more... ) | | 7:07 pm |
What comfort zone? We don't have those anymore.
Sarah saw a tear land on Sig’s shoulder. It made a dark spot on his t-shirt. He reached his great big paw up and cradled Sarah’s cheek in his hand, wiping away a second tear with his ring finger. “Sarah,” he said, “what do those tears mean?” “Happy,” she answered, swallowing hard. “Relieved. Too much feeling and not enough words.” ( Read more... ) | | 7:01 pm |
Discombobulation for everyone! Also, a chaplain named Snack.
Sig schlepped a large duffel bag up the stairs, along with the beer. Sarah followed with her arms full of groceries. While Sarah put the groceries, Sig slumped down on the couch. Once Sarah got the cold stuff put away, she walked over to the couch. "Are you okay, Sig? Do you want to talk about it?" "I don't even know what to say," he said. He reached his arm out to Sarah. She sat down on the couch beside him. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, like a kid holding a stuffed animal. "I guess I should be happy, I'm getting what I want...it's just hard. I wish I didn't have to hurt Laura. She didn't do anything wrong. She wasn't happy with me, I wasn't happy with her, but still, it's gotta hurt to hear that the person you married loves someone else more." ( Read more... ) | | Sunday, July 17th, 2011 | | 9:22 pm |
I think I'll just drop a bunch of drama bombs now kthx
“I know, right?” Naomi asked. “I mean, he’s hot, I’d do him, but he is such a fucking toolbox. What did you see in him?” “Not much of anything,” Dr. Sable said. “Besides the fact that he’s stupid hot, of course,” Naomi said. “Well, not even that!” Dr. Sable laughed. “I mean, he’s not funny looking, he’s put together well and I can see why people think he’s attractive, but…” “Was he at least good in bed?” Dr. Sable facepalmed and shook her head. “I don’t know…” “What?! You never even slept with him?” Naomi asked. “Come on! That’s the one reason to get together with Dave.” The waitress looked like she was trying not to laugh as she set the plates of food down in front of the ladies. “Let me know if you need anything,” she said quickly. Weird day for everyone
Michele patiently answered all of the dispatcher's questions. She listened as the dispatcher said that he may have run away on his own, that she should call Colorado State Patrol, that she should call the state police in Michigan, and that a detective would call her for a phone interview. The call to State Patrol was nearly identical to the call to Arvada. Michele hung up the phone feeling defeated. The dispatchers were so calm, even cheerful; but they wouldn't be that way if they knew him! They never asked if he was a good guy. They never gave her a chance to talk about Honey Puppy. She never got to tell them that he could talk his way in to or out of anything. She wished she could have told them about how he helped 15-year-old guys in Kiddieland with their girlfriend drama and mom drama and summer school drama. Maybe that would help. Maybe they'd be more attentive, more concerned, if they knew how cool he was! ( Read more... ) | | Sunday, July 10th, 2011 | | 8:06 pm |
Uh oh, they're starting to figure it out....
“Well, now it pretty much has to be okay, because I’m not coming up with anything else. He was found in the alley behind Griffin’s, which is a place that doesn’t really get much traffic; I mean, nobody except the employees uses that back door. There are no other businesses nearby that would have customers who use that alley, no parking and no residences, either. It was a Sunday, too, so not a busy night downtown.” “Weird!” Dr. Sable said. She turned to the patient. “Hon, I really wish you could just wake up and tell us exactly what happened, that would make life so much simpler for everyone, don’cha know…” "I know, right?" Sarah said. "I hope someone realizes he's missing soon, so we can figure out who he is and get his family over here." ( Read more... ) | | Friday, July 8th, 2011 | | 10:12 pm |
Vince does his trick
"So," Vince asked Michele, "What kind of crowd does this place have?" "One that usually doesn't involve me," she answered. Brandon, another rides kid who was pretty much a permanent fixture in the Fairmount Gardens party scene, piped up. "Totally chill," he said. "The DJ's kind of annoying, he's, like, a total attention whore who sings things that he has no business singing. But, then again, neither does everyone else." Everyone's still clueless
"Sucks," Sarah said. She snuggled closer. "I wonder what Sunday will be like." "What do you mean?" Sig asked. She stayed silent, again snuggling closer to Sig. He wrapped his arms tighter. "Ah." He kissed her on the top of her head. "I get it. We'll come in to work, save some lives, run some transfers, hold down the parking lot...just like always. But we'll know what's up. We'll know we got closer, and that we want to get even closer than that. How does that sound?" "Perfect," she said. She leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips. The part where Sarah and Sig have drama
Sarah arrived at the bar first. She was the only customer there, which was not unusual at 7:00 in the morning. Instead of the usual bartender, there was a new guy. He was tall, bald, and black, smartly dressed in a crisp button-down shirt and slacks. "Good morning!" "Good morning to you," Sarah said. She took a seat at the bar. "I'll have a margarita, please." "A margarita? I like!" The bartender laughed. "It's happy hour in my time zone," Sarah explained. "I just got off work." ( Read more... ) | | Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 | | 6:43 pm |
Meet Dr. Sable and see what Michele is up to
“Dr. Sable, is this yours?” “Yes it is!” Dr. Sable laughed and snatched the cell phone out of Kate’s hand. “Do you know how long I’ve been looking for this?” Kate didn’t get a chance to answer. “No, really, do you? Because I sure don’t. The last time I remember having my phone was Friday, when I called my mom…” She fiddled around with the touch screen. “Hmm. That’s the last call that happened. Three days, no activity. My God. I really need a life.” ( Read more... ) | | 6:36 pm |
Ha ha, I'm writing another novel Camp NaNoWriMo: Write a novel in July.Sure, why not? Here we go. John Doe by Jen Nelson “Battle Creek base, ambulance 108, how do you copy? This is paramedic Fossum, coming in emergent with an unconscious male. He’s in his late 20s or early 30s, bleeding from the nose and left ear, decorticate posturing. I’ve got a BLS airway, we’re bagging him, fire’s working on an IV, and…oh, shit, gotta let you go, now he’s seizing. Five minutes out.” “Two minutes, Sig!” Sarah Buckley, the EMT, maneuvered the ambulance through traffic while sending out warning blasts with the air horn. She couldn’t pay attention to the drama in the back; she was too busy driving. She was curious. What had just happened? Sig had taken one look at the patient, a naked and badly beaten man, and told her to get them to the hospital five minutes ago. ( Read more... ) | | Monday, November 22nd, 2010 | | 8:59 pm |
